HOW I GET INTERNET TO WORK REMOTELY WHILE TRAVELING

One of the big conundrums of vanlife is I want to go to beautiful remote places but I also want internet access for both work and a social life. Having a connection for work is essential to many people working remotely but it also helps to stay-in-touch with friends which can be essential to maintaining a healthy mental space and fighting off some ‘alone in a van’ loneliness.

Fast internet to work like at home, because this is my home.

My system is based on the following components,

Peplink Max BR1 mk2 (Visit Pepwave Product Page)

Poynting 5-1 Antenna (Visit Ponyting Product Page)

After all my research these two products stood out as having the best features and useability ready to go out of the box. I was also very happy to find them bundled together and discounted by MobileMustHave.com. MobileMustHave also provide technical support if you have any problems with the system and have been great to work with on a few occasions were I had some technical glitches managing the router.

To start with I will explain the features of the router.

  • Verizon certified (Also listed as compatible with all major carriers including Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, Rogers, Telus, Bell, and U.S. Cellular). I use an unlimited/unthrottled Verizon SIM in the U.S. and TelCel SIM in Mexico.
  • Dual SIMs! This allows automatic switching for multiple carriers/plans and one data thresholds are reached.
  • Shock and vibration resistance certified
